Quan Zhen school is one of the authentic Daoism lineages and it is well-known for its highly systematic and effective practice in its esoteric practice, such as meditation, alchemy, rituals, and talismans.

Different from other Daoist practices, the talisman consecration practice has always been a secret kept by every Dao lineage, and it is only passed down to the ordained disciples within the lineage because of the great concern that this magical practice can be applied by villains for evil purposes.

The so-called “talismans” or “amulets” in the market are basically printed copies or streamlined manufactured products. Most temple-produced talismans, though bearing a consecration certificate, are in fact mass copies. Hundreds of copies are simply laid on the table in front of an altar before being released to the public. It involves no process of customization or proper consecrated procedures to activate the energy, which carries no power to help one achieve the goal.

The true power of a talisman lies solely on the authentic lineage consecrating processes, from specific hand mudras to mystic dancing steps, from spelling and rituals that summon deities and spirits to inkstone, brush, talisman paper cleansing, from scriptures of commanding spiritual actions to detailed steps of unleashing the energy of a consecrated talisman, the entire processes are highly complex, sophisticated, and any incorrect or missing step will result in the whole effort in vain.
